Mini Miracles early childhood development centre, the 6 SA Infantry Battalion pre-school, was officially opened at a recent ceremony at the military base.
Children started at the pre-school in January and the welcoming function for parents and other invited guests was held at the base last week.
In the speeches, the sponsors were thanked for their help in upgrading of the facility, as well as various items for the creche.
6SAI officer commanding, Lieutenant Colonel Alton Gysman, said the pre-school is open to parents within the military base as well as the broader community had “started from nothing”.
Addressing the principals of Grahamstown schools who had been invited, Gysman said, “This will be your source as we groom the kids for your school.”
General de Goede, from the South African Army Infantry Formation, said the pre-school has come at a time when parents are about to be deployed to the Democratic Republic of Congo, adding that the children will be “in good care”.
De Goede said the 6SAI pre-school was the first of 27 units to “react and take up the challenge" through opening the creche.
The children entertained the guests and parents in the hall, before heading to the pre-school where the official name board was unveiled.
