Three cars were involved in a peak-hour accident on Tuesday morning, causing a backlog of vehicles along Milner Street. The accident occurred shortly before 7.30am.

According to one of the drivers, he was heading down Milner Street towards town when the vehicle in front of him only indicated that it was turning into the Settlers' Hospital grounds very shortly before turning.

The driver slammed on the breaks but the tar was wet from the rain, causing him to slide and hit the vehicle in front of him, which then slammed into an oncoming vehicle. Photo: Stephen Penney
