This is the first time the tent has been erected in Grahamstown and the church hopes to help curb crime and violence by calling all young people to attend the crusade.
"For the first time in history we have this crusade here; the reason for it is not just to build on church membership but we are doing our part as the church to assist the government in combating crime and violence in our communities," said local branch pastor Zolani Mtyapi.
The crusade has been going around South Africa, Mtyapi said, and will be based here for three months.
"Our hope is to lift the moral standard in our community and by getting everyone involved, and bringing them back to their creator, is what we are aiming for."
He said the local crusade officially began last Sunday and people from Makana municipality and the local SAPS were invited to the opening.
"Both of the representatives made a cry that there was a serious problem in Grahamstown of crime, drug and alcohol abuse."
"We are inviting everyone, young and old, to come and join us in our services and they will see God change their lives," Mtyapi said.
Services will be held every day for the duration of the marquee's stay, starting with a 6am prayer service. At 10am and 6pm full services will be held.
