The Kingswood College boys’ first squash team made their first trip to the 19th FNB St Andrew’s Invitational Squash Festival in Bloemfontein recently.
They were one of 24 schools from around South Africa participating in the festival, which precedes the Top Schools Tournament that will take place in Pietermaritzburg later this year.
The Kingswood team was matched up against some of the top squash-playing schools and players in the country, yet the boys showed much determination and excelled.
Some noteworthy accomplishments were that both Vaughan Meyer and Joshua Thorburn remained unbeaten in the tournament, with Vaughan only conceding one game in his last match against Paarl Boys’ High.
The Kingswood team also remained unbeaten in the festival.
