    Blaauw first local home in Friendly City race

    Many runners hit the Port Elizabeth tar in The Herald Friendly City Marathon (42.2km) last weekend to qualify for bigger races in the upcoming months like the Comrades or Two Oceans.

    Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon entrants are actually able to make changes to their entries, including qualifying times, up until 5 March on the race’s website.

    Many runners hit the Port Elizabeth tar in The Herald Friendly City Marathon (42.2km) last weekend to qualify for bigger races in the upcoming months like the Comrades or Two Oceans.

    The first Grahamstown athlete home in Saturday’s race was Lionel Blaauw of Run/Walk For Life Athletics Club.

    Grahamstown athletes who finished The Herald Friendly City Marathon: 46.

    • Richard Foss (Albany) 3:42:41 178.
    • Brian Bannatyne (Albany) 4:05:19 251.
    • Laura Forster (Albany) 4:23:39 260.
    • Eric Mapara (Rhodes University Athletics Club) 4:25:40 272.
    • Johan Conradie (Run/Walk For Life) 4:27:59.
