Visual arts and dramatic arts are the subjects with the highest percentage of A symbols. Seven VG pupils achieved A-aggregates.
For the fourth consecutive year VG has the top-performing candidate in the Cacadu district: Tayla Solomon, from Bedford, achieved seven A symbols, in subjects including mathematics, physical science, history, visual art and Mathematics Paper 3.
Individual candidates who performed well are Tapiwa Chindeka (Grahamstown), Abenathi Gqomo (Grahamstown), Cassie Lister (Riebeeck East), Thandiswa Nqowana (Grahamstown), Nelly Ntapu (Grahamstown) and Chandré van Vught (Grahamstown). They all achieved three A symbols for various subjects.
Nanamhla Ceza (Mthata) and Babalwa Qaba (Mthata) achieved four A-symbols in subjects including mathematics, physical science, life sciences, accounting and history.
Amy Jackson-Moss (Grahamstown) and Katherine James (Grahamstown) flexed their mental muscles and achieved five A-symbols – no mean feat considering their tough academic packages include mathematics, physical sciences, life sciences and geography.
Asemahle Madlingozi (Grahamstown), with her academically rigorous combination of mathematics, physical science, life sciences and visual arts achieved a remarkable six A-symbols.
Dominik Petermann (Grahamstown) also achieved six A-symbols, including in mathematics, geography, history and visual arts; and Lillian Roberts (Grahamstown) also got six A-symbols, including for maths literacy, history, drama and visual arts.
