Should Grahamstown's name be changed? Could municipal money be better spent on other civic issues? Would the costs involved result in dire long-term economic consequences for the city? Views on this matter are highly contested and we would like to give everyone a chance to let their voices be heard.

Should Grahamstown's name be changed? Could municipal money be better spent on other civic issues? Would the costs involved result in dire long-term economic consequences for the city? Views on this matter are highly contested and we would like to give everyone a chance to let their voices be heard.

If this is something you feel strongly about then please come to a public debate in the City Hall tomorrow at 5pm, hosted by Grocott's Mail. Everyone is welcome to attend. Four panellists will each be given four minutes to make an opening statement. There will be two panellists explaining why they think the name Grahamstown should go, and another two defending why it should stay.

They will then be given a brief opportunity to respond to any issues directed to them. After this shorter second round, we will take questions from audience members who will have the chance to line up and speak over the microphone. Get up to speed with who's said what so far in this hot local debate here.
