Grahamstown Cricket Board (GCB) league defending champions Cuylerville cricket club won their opening game of the new season before losing their next match last weekend. The 2012/2013 league is in its third week.
The first league teams (currently playing in the GCB first league, Bathurst first league and Central Albany first leagues) have played only two matches, due to a number of first-league players making up the Eastern Province Grahamstown Rural team.
The first-league teams are off again this weekend due to the EP Grahamstown side playing against Border Aloes (Fort Beaufort/Alice area) at Shaw Park.
In the second league, most teams have played three matches. It's only Rhodes Shrews that have played six games due to them being available during university holidays.
Shrews lead the second-league log with 19 points, followed by Manley Flats on 15 points. See the Sports Diary on page 32 for the weekend's GCB fixtures.

The first league fixture between Port Alfred and Rhodes Rats was rained out.

Albany vs Swallows at Albany Sports Club

Cuylerville vs Southwell at Shaw Park
Southwell 83 (C Tyson 4/21, J Hanstein 3/14), Cuylerville 85/4 (S du Plessis 35 not out). Cuylerville won by 6 wickets.
