Butlers and Bunny Chows is the highly-anticipated fifth instalment in the now-famous Butlers comedy series. Writer/director Justin Wilkinson’s new caper is once again set to entertain festival patrons with biting wit, satirical dialogue and great comic timing.

Having taken the honours in recent years as one of the fastest-selling comedies on the National Arts Festival Fringe, this year’s Butlers show promises to be even more exciting than ever before.

The fun all starts when an ex-Bollywood movie star is thrust into an undercover operation in the household of a wealthy crime boss, setting off a thrilling chain of events where anything can happen! What makes this series so popular, of course, is the fact that the audience decides throughout the performance what happens next on stage by choosing the path that the actors must take.

So every performance is different, with multiple plots, twists and turns. Suspicious characters, outrageous antics and madcap hilarity will take the audience on a rollercoaster ride right up to the final scene. Rameez Nordien stars as the butler, along with Evelyn Brink and Aphiwe Menziwa in supporting roles.

The show is written and directed by Wilkinson – who also makes appearances as one or two outlandish characters. Having performed shows at the Festival for the past 13 years, Wilkinson is no stranger to Grahamstown audiences and has even hosted a number of the evening Sundowner Concerts at the Monument. In his own words: “I really love the vibe in Grahamstown every year – and it’s great to be back with our most exciting Butlers show yet.”

Wilkinson has worked with many well-known stage and television personalities, including the lead singer of the popular South African music group Freshlyground, Zolani Mahola, and Idols favourite, Graham Watkins. In addition to juggling many work commitments, he also finds time to serve as a mentor to other young, up-and-coming actors.
