Poetry, drama, live music and local DJs will be showcased tomorrow by people showing their local pride and passion for entertainment in the 200 years of Grahamstown Road Show.

All the action will take place at the market square on Dr Jacob Zuma Drive, said the road show's media and communications manager, Ivy Madyo.

The main objective of the event is to celebrate the city's past 200 years through entertainment, he said, adding that lots of local artists will be there to perform, including well-known DJs Leja and Uds.
But this is only the beginning.

A fascinating talk on Grahamstown's history will be delivered by Dumisani Budaza, one of four Grahamstown-born Rhodes University academics who have been going around the township to collect the untold stories of people who live there. These four academics form the Busy Bees project – an initiative of Makana Municipality and Albany Museum to record as much of Grahamstown's untold history as possible before it is forgotten.

We want people to gain knowledge and participate in this programme, Madyo said.
The road show will start at 10am and carry on until about 4pm.

A second event will be hosted at Joza and Madyo said that more details will be revealed at the event on Saturday.
