The New England Youth Ensemble, a 45-piece chamber orchestra, and the Columbia Collegiate Chorale, both from the Washington Adventist University in the US, are touring in South Africa and will be performing together in the Cathedral on Monday from 1pm-2pm.

The programme will comprise a selection of choral and orchestral works, and will feature some of the talented young soloists in the orchestra and choir. Dr James Bingham, music department chair at the college, directs the choir and the

orchestra's conductor is acclaimed Canadian violinist Preston Hawes.

Both groups have travelled the world over, performing at various festivals and for several dignitaries such as Queen Noor of Jordan, veteran US politicians President Ford and Henry Kissinger, and First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Polish United Worker's Party, Edward Gierek. They have performed in prestigious venues such as New York's famed Carnegie Hall and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC.
