Rhodes University Athletics Club will host the first Eastern Province cross-country league event of the year. The fixture is scheduled to take place on Saturday 26 May.

Xolani Ngcikhwe, acting sports officer at Rhodes University Sports Administration, said they would be holding a pre-season cross-country event early in May to begin creating excitement for the league event.

Ngcikhwe said the pre-season event will be held for all schools so the pupils can get a feel of the cross-country events. He said it would then be up to the schools to keep the pupils in training up until the league event later in May.

The league event will start at 9am with a number of events, including the men's open 12km, girls' 4km and boys' 6km events.

There will also be a 3km event for boys and girls between 9 and 13. For more information on the cross-country event, call Xolani at 082 723 3178.
