The Kingswood College U13 girls water polo team recently embarked on a tour to Cape Town, being the first Kingswood juniors to form a team and play regular fixtures in Grahamstown after the growing popularity of the sport.

The girls took part in the Reddam House U13 Water Polo Tournament and arrived excited to play five competitive fixtures and prove their worth in the company of some well-established water polo playing schools.

From the outset the Kingswood girls played positive and unselfish water polo to win their first game against Rustenberg 6-5. They then narrowly lost to Springfield with a score of 6-7. As the tournament progressed the girls grew from strength to strength and certainly contributed to the competitive nature of the tournament.
In the first game of the second day the Kingswood team was beaten 0-15 by Reddam, but showed some genuine resolve and character later to bounce back and beat Llandudno in a passion-filled play-off decider match which ended with Kingswood winning 4-1. In the fifth / sixth play-off match the Kingswood girls beat the Reddam Invitational team 10-2 to end the tournament in fifth position out of 10 competing teams.
While in Cape Town, the girls also took a trip up Table Mountain in a cable-car.
