Local boxers were opening their road to Makana Amateurs Boxing Organisation trials at the Mfuzo Boxing Camp tournament, which happened at the Indoor Sport Centre on Saturday.

The tournament was well attended by Nkuthazo, Phakamisa, Mayfield, Masibambane, Ndlambe, Fighting Stars, Alexandria, Philbro and the Grahamstown boxing supporters.

Mfuzo Dyira, the Mfuzo boxing manager, said that the tournament is the last boxing tournament before senior boxers go to Makabo trails next Saturday. Next week Makabo will be selecting a regional team, and on the 14th of April they will be at Cook house for Cacadu team, said Dyira. He added that Makabo trails will be at Dr Zuma Drive, Market Square, on the upcoming Saturday.

At the tournament, Siphosethu Zingela (Mfuzo), who is also known as 'The Rock', was fighting against Xolani Maneli (Ndlambe). The highly-skilled Zingela entertained the audience with styles, beating and knocking Maneli in the first round. It was not over until the referee stopped the fight 20 seconds after it started.
Next fight was girl against the lady, Makube Qinela (Masibambane) going against the slow poison Noxolo Bill (Fighting Stars). In the first and the last round, Qinela was throwing punches, jabs and upper cuts and the referee had to stop the fight because Bill was not breathing.

Luvo Veto (Mfuzo) fought against Sindiso Qinela (Masibambane), the match started very well with good combination from both boxers. Qinela controlled the fight, rounds and points up until the match over.
Qinela won the fight by points and promised that he will put Makana on the map.

Leon Greyvenstein, the Alexandria coach, told italGrocott's Mail/ital he was happy with the tournament and it was well organised. He raised the point that the organisations should be better on keeping time, because the tournament was running late and he had to take kids back to Alexandria. I don't like it if the kids are going home late, said Greyvenstein.
