Prospect Field was a sea of colour on Human Rights Day on Wednesday as students took part in the annual Digs Olympics organised by the Oppidan Committee, where 18 teams of four competed in a number of games.

Silly outfits and cunning skills were the tools needed to beat the other crazy-clad teams. With flour-covered faces teams climbed, rolled, jumped, fell and crawled over a blow-up obstacle course.
Luck was needed as other teams attempted to blow a ping-pong ball from one water filled cup. And one team member was blind-folded, their hands bound and guided through a course before kneeling down to eat a doughnut.
Other games included trolley races, paintball and a giant puzzle. Caley Chaplin, Oppidan Sub-warden and the main event organiser, said they would love to have more teams but the committee could not manage it logistically.
“In terms of getting people participating and having a good time we had to keep the team numbers down. So we’ll have to think of new strategies in the future.”
The overall winning team was the Pumped up Kids: David Goble, Mike Davies, Ross Hoole and Gareth Barford. They received a grocery hamper worth R1000.
The runner up prize was a R550 grocery hamper and was won by the Fortress: Trushall Bhana, Jono Glover, Scott Leech and Neil Savy.
Team Zoo Girls won best dressed and spirit. Darryn Hosking from the Arcades team was the only injury of the day with a possible fracture to his hand.
