The fifteenth annual Frans Erasmus U13 Rugby/Netball tournament drop-kicked off on Friday morning last week, with hosts, PJ Olivier, locking horns with Adelaide Primary in the day's opening rugby match.

The first game was played with much fervour and Adelaide managed to run out of the park winners with a score of 6-5. PJ wasn't going to let an opening loss dictate their weekend however, and went on to remain unbeaten in their next four matches.
The tournament's organiser, Manie Cronje said that the boys played exceptionally well and he was extremely impressed with their overall performance. Cronje's favourite game of the weekend was the 10-10 thriller between Jeffrey's Bay and Graeme A, he said, where some exceptional primary school rugby was on display.
He also mentioned the team fielded by Gill Primary, from Somerset East, saying that they had played outstanding rugby all weekend. Cronje reported that an overall winner is still to be decided, pending the judges' final decision.
The sports day aimed to raise funds to go towards the PJ Olivier hockey tour to Stellenbosch this year, and was named after former Springbok rugby player Frans Erasmus, who was an old friend of Cronje's.
