Local club Equilibrium (EQ) is closing its doors for renovations tomorrow. The popular night spot will be re-opened next year during O-week when a new batch of students will arrive.

EQ is one of the entertainment spots in Grahamstown that boasts a real city-type club vibe. With its speciality in bringing in high profile DJs, its closing down will leave a huge gap in the lives of EQ regulars.

EQ is one of the entertainment spots in Grahamstown that boasts a real city-type club vibe. With its speciality in bringing in high profile DJs, its closing down will leave a huge gap in the lives of EQ regulars.
Grocott's Mail spoke to a few students and found out how they feel about the closing down of the popular night spot.

Carey Frazer said, "I think it's very good that they are upgrading the place, but now where are all the EQ hoppers going be partying? But I'm very stoked about the renovations."

"Well I am not bothered by it, it's exam time and I wouldn't be going there," mentioned Ethan van Diemen.
Club promoter, Allan 'BigAl' Nyakotyo, told Grocott's Mail that "it's a sign of progression and it means there are more things to come."

Senate Moshoeshoe said, "I'm actually glad. For one, I won't be tempted to go out and that place is worn out now," and Amanda Dlamini added, "I think it's about time that EQ underwent renovations to provide us with better service."

And my opinion? The renovations seem like something that is long overdue for the popular night spot, as conditions inside can get really uncomfortable due to lack of airconditioning. I look forward to the new-improved EQ in a couple of months.
