Five new records at VP athletics

Five records were set at Victoria Primary School's annual sports day, held at the Graeme College Somerset Field last week.

Five records were set at Victoria Primary School's annual sports day, held at the Graeme College Somerset Field last week.

Toni Rafferty (U10) broke the 400m and 800m records, setting new times of 1:17,78 and 3:00,28 respectively. Rafferty also won the 200m and the 1200m events. Iviwe Gaulekapa (U13) set a new 100m record in a time of 13,72 seconds. Sispho Macingwane (U14) set a new 200m (31,91 seconds) and 1200m (4:50,29) records. She also won the 400m and 800m events.

The Senior Victrix Ludorum went to Iviwe Gaulekapa, while Toni Rafferty won the Junior Victrix Ludorum. The U9 Victrix Ludorum was won by Leyabona Macingwane. The winning house was Arum

All the winners:

U9:
80m- Tarn Phillips, 100m- Liyabona Macingwane, 200m- Liyabona Macingwane, 400m- Tarn Phillips.
U10:
80m- Toni Rafferty, 100m- Amira Moodley, 200m- Toni Rafferty, 400m- Toni Rafferty (new record 1:17,78), 800m- Toni Rafferty (new record 3:00,28), 1200m- Toni Rafferty.
U11:
80m- Courtney Prins, 100m- Abuyile Mkumbuzi, 200m- Ane Songongo, 400m- Sinako Dlukulu, 800m- Linique Denston, 1200m- Sinako Dlukulu.
U12:
80m- Caitlin Lambert, 100m- Qabuka Plaaitjie, 200m- Qabuka Plaaitjie, 400m- Jennifer Cummings, 800m- Qabauka Plaaitjie, 1200m- Sive Ngoxweni.
U13:
100m- Iviwe Gaulekapa (new record 13,72), 200m- Iviwe Gaulekapa, 400m- Gemma Ginn, 800m- Mary Royi, 1200m- Mary Royi.
U14:
100m- Siphokazi Soxujwa, 200m- Sispho Macingwane (new record 31,91), 400m- Sispho Macingwane, 800m- Sisipho Macingwane, 1200m- Sispho Macingwane (new record 4:50,29).
