A case against Makana traffic officer Terence Bafo has been postponed.

Bafo, who allegedly "negligently issued and or authorised the issue of a learner's licence", was due to appear on Monday 5 September.

His appearance in the Grahamstown Magistrate's Court has been postponed to 1 November, when he will plead.

The charge sheet dates the alleged offence at on or about 23 November last year, at or near Grahamstown.
He faced an internal disciplinary hearing over the same alleged offence.

Grocott's Mail reported on the case on 30 August, notably the fact that Makana Municipality was reportedly footing Bafo's legal costs, and that it coincided with the council's investigation into alleged racism and corruption in the department where he works.
