Internationally renowned guitarist, singer and songwriter Nibs van der Spuy, returns to perform once more in Grahamstown, following a successful world tour.

The show at the Highlander will include a half price pizza special and for those interested – a free guitar workshop with van der Spuy himself.

Van der Spuy's mastery of the guitar, along with moving lyrics, have earned him a worldwide reputation as a fresh voice in the ‘Nu-Folk’ movement. The South African acoustic guitar legend has already been nominated for several Samas (South African Music Awards), and his unique approach combines folk, African, classical, celtic, world, maskanda and Indian styles.

According to French newspaper Le Monde, “his guitar playing with classical touches and Zulu melodies and his thrilling airy voice is folk rock from out of this world.”

His four-year world tour has taken him across Australia, France, Italy, Swaziland and South Africa – sharing the stage with stars such as Ben Harper, Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Bela Fleck and Piers Faccini.

His international tour resumes in September when he travels to Italy, the UK, Spain and France to promote his new acoustic album, Morning Star.

Van der Spuy will be giving a free guitar workshop at the Highlander at 5.30pm before the show. To make a booking for this unique opportunity call van der Spuy on 082 951 8757.
