The Grahamstown High Schools Soccer League did not get off to a great start in 2011, with a number of match postponements and teams not pitching up.

This year's league saw the first matches taking place in mid April. However, only three games took place, with the rest being postponed due to the school holidays. This year's league included Nombulelo, Mary Waters, Khutliso Daniels and TEM Mrwetyana schools making up the league. A late decision by Ntsika saw them added to the league, which was scheduled to continue this term. Unfortunately heavy rains caused the first week's games to be postponed as the JD Dlepu Fields were under water.

The league was then scheduled to restart on 3 August with a match between new-comers Ntsika and Nombulelo. The Ntsika side did not show up for their opening match and so Nombulelo were awarded soft points.

A total of three matches were played in the second term.

Mary Waters earned soft points in their first match after Khutliso Daniels did not arrive for the game. Mary Waters then lost to Nombulelo 2-1 in their second match, and Nombulelo then earned soft points in their second game after a no-show from TEM Mrwetyana.

Last Friday's game was also postponed due to the bad weather conditions. This week's matches see Khutliso Daniels face Ntsika tomorrow (Wednesday) and on Friday TEM Mrwetyana play Ntsika.

Siyabonga Masinda took over as the coordinator of the High Schools league last week.
