The high-profile murder case of former Port Alfred businessman Andrew Reynolds remains at a standstill, with no arrests to date.

Reynolds was found dead with a gunshot wound in his head on 9 July 2009, at Boskeydell Farm, near Fort Brown.

The farm belonged to a friend of Reynolds, who was overseas. Reynolds had been staying on the property for several months, commuting daily to Port Alfred.

Police later found a hunting rifle and two cellphones in a water tank only a few feet from Reynolds’s cottage. The gun was sent to Port Elizabeth for ballistics testing and the results were to be released in court. Reynolds owned Port Alfred-based boating company, A&G Marine, which was under liquidation at the time.

The case is still open and police continue to investigate

Kenton case
Ayanda Mavikela, who was accused of murdering Kenton-on-Sea businessman Juan Jansen has been found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment in February. Mavikela attacked Jansen who was on the way to the bank with the weekend takings from the Kenton Spar, in November 2009.

Mavikela’s lawyers were refused leave to appeal against his sentence and have said they will petition the Chief Justice.

A second man, Monwabisi Rafani, faces murder and robbery charges in connection with the death of Jansen will appear in the Eastern Cape High Court, in Grahamstown, in October. His case was postponed because he wanted to raise funds to hire his own lawyer.
