Municipal worker, Roy Francis is the proud owner of a new Chevrolet Corsa Utility 1400 which he won in a lucky draw hosted by Pick n Pay on 2 August.

The competition, which began in February, required participants to make a purchase of R30 or more from the store. Entrants had to submit their slips with their names and numbers on the receipts and a finalist was drawn on a monthly basis until the end of July.

The presenter, Paul Mills attracted an audience with music and a microphone as the six finalists gathered in anxious anticipation for the draw.

The finalist of each month, from February to July, took turns to draw a key from a packet. Only one of the keys was the correct fit. One by one they tried to unlock the car.

Francis opened the door on the fifth attempt and as the audience cheered him on, he threw his fists into the air.

Francis,a part-time gym instructor who is also a passionate sportsman says, “I'm the happiest man ever.”

He had never owned a car before, and hopes to take a drive to Port Elizabeth to celebrate.
