Council recently approved an application to extend liquor-trading hours during the National Arts Festival. Licensed outlets will be allowed to sell liquor until 2am every day for the duration of the Festival.

The report in Monday's council meeting states that this was done after consultation with the SAPS. Applications for extension had been received from various outlets for various times and they had settled on the SAPS recommendation of 2am for the Festival's duration.

The Makana council approved a liquor-trading hours bylaw in 2008. It regulates the hours during which liquor may be sold and applies to all premises within the Makana Municipal jurisdiction.
