An empty stage greeted festival-goers who had paid to see Black South Easter perform at Equilibrium yesterday, to launch the Acoustic Vibes @ EQ series.

Candice Hutton, one of the irate and disappointed customers, said there had been a “room full of people” but no performance, and no explanation had been given. The only way she'd known the show was cancelled, Hutton said, was because CueTV, who were there to record the performance, were instead interviewing disgruntled festival-goers.

Festival manager Kate Axe Davies explained that there had been an error in scheduling that meant the technical staff had not been ready to stage the show. She said they would try to reschedule the performance as soon as possible. Davies said full refunds were available at any of the ticket offices.
