Young cross country talent

Twenty junior learners from schools in Makana will take part in the Eastern Province Athletics cross country league event in Uitenhage this weekend.

The learners are part of the Rhodes University cross country development programme funded by Lotto.

Twenty junior learners from schools in Makana will take part in the Eastern Province Athletics cross country league event in Uitenhage this weekend.

The learners are part of the Rhodes University cross country development programme funded by Lotto.

The programme was run in Grahamstown over the past few months to identify talented cross-country athletes (boys and girls) in various age groups. \

The cross-country team to take part in tomorrow's event is:

  • Simamkele Mfengwana U10 girl,
  • Sixolile Fikani U12 boy,
  • Siyabulela Mthwa U15 boy,
  • Zipho Busani U15 boy (all from Samuel Ntsiko),
  • Sanele Papana U10 girl,
  • Vuyisile Nkayi U11 boy,
  • Zanoxolo Dyonashe U16 boy,
  • Christopher Papana U16 boy (all Amasango),
  • Sinoxolo Adam U11 boy,
  • Vuyelwa Peters U13 girl (both DD Siwisa),
  • Thantaswa Staki U12 girl,
  • Odwa Skade U13 boy,
  • Siphosethu Daweti U14 girl,
  • Sindile Dyulati U14 boy,
  • Sinathi Kom U15 boy,
  • Sinazo Mini U15 girl,
  • Portia Faku U16 girl (all Archie Mbolekwa),
  • Edmund Davis U15 boy,
  • Janine Spears U12 girl (both Good Sherperd) and
  • Liso Nekile U11 boy (Ntaba Maria).
