Mary Waters first rugby side enjoyed a super win on Wednesday when they beat Graeme 1sts 11-7 in front of a large crowd at the Rhodes Great Field.

Mary Waters did not disappoint their fans as they ran in a try and kicked over two penalties to beat the more fancied Graeme side. This is Graeme's second derby loss in less than a week as they lost in the final minutes last Saturday to St Andrew's.

Mary Waters were first to put points on the board, as Siyabonga Mahapi put over a penalty. He doubled Mary Water's score with another successful penalty kick minutes later. Graeme tried in vain to cross the defensive line of Mary Waters.

However, the Mary Waters side defended well to keep Graeme from scoring. The hosts led 6-0 at the break. Graeme came out guns blazing in the second half and their efforts were rewarded as Dalu January went over for a try which was converted by Siweze Stamper, as Graeme took the lead for the first time in the match.

Mary Waters got the lead back when Jamian Walters scored from a scrum five metres from the Graeme try line. Graeme put everything into their attack but were unable to convert this into points as Mary Waters won 11-7.

In other matches played between the two schools, Graeme U14's won 32-0, Graeme U15's won 48-0 and Graeme 2nds won 20-0.
