A registered voter who will be out of their voting district on 18 May can cast a special vote two days earlier, on 16 May. This has to be done by prior arrangement, at any IEC office in their own voting district.

In the case of Makana residents, this means the IEC office in Room 8 of the SA Social Security Agency building, at the station end of High Street.

The elderly, very ill, heavily pregnant or disabled, who are unable to travel to their voting stations on the day, may apply for home visits, which will take place on 16 and 17 May.

Another person may apply for a special vote on your behalf and either this person, or the voter him/herself, must apply in person at the Makana IEC offices, at 20 High Street, Grahamstown. Applications open today and will close on 3 May.
