"On the move to kick TB out", was the theme taken up by the Makana Municipality, the Temba Santa TB hospital and the Grahamstown Military Base on World TB Day, commemorated recently with an outreach programme at Noluthando Hall, in Fingo Village.

Residents joined their march around the township, led by TB patients and the Seventh Day Adventists’ steel band. The hospital's matron, Nelisa Dyantyi, said, “We are glad the municipality is part of this fight. It actually shows that their political involvement in such issues is strengthened. We health workers have such support because we encourage political involvement. We look forward to conducting more activities with the municipality," she said.

Army base peer educator Matthews Morokolo said he was pleased to be part of such an initiative and encouraged the audience to prioritise their health. " We urge people to get tested for both TB and HIV/Aids," said Morokolo. This outreach programme followed the World TB day celebrations held the previous week at the hospital.
