The DA have announced their candidates for the 14 Makana wards in the May 18 local elections.

In a statement, the party said it was notable that all its candidates had alternative sources of income. While this presented some problems in their availability for meetings, it meant they were not solely dependent on the party for their livelihood.

The DA's candidate nomination process involved local branches identifying potential candidates among their membership and encouraging them to apply to become candidates. These potential candidates had to submit CVs, undergo interviews and be assessed in terms of their fitness for the job.
