The ANC branch in Ward 3 nominated local election candidates at a meeting held at Mary Waters High School last week.

Xolani Simakuhle, Wendy Mfazwe, Mthunzi Fatyi, Shampo Zwane, and John Sphere were the four candidates nominated to stand for the position of the ward's councillor. Regional Executive Committee member, Julie Wells, said the names will be taken to the branch's screening committee.

“If there's anyone that you feel is not suitable, you can submit his or her name to the committee. The screening and selection committee will convene a meeting where the candidates will be introduced to the community."

Wells also said the meeting will create a platform where the committee will ask the candidates questions, and members of community will be permitted to ask them questions as well. She says the screening and selection committee will select one candidate and then take the name to the Regional List Committee.
