Grocott’s Mail prides itself on being responsive to the needs and wishes of the Makana community. We often go out on to the streets of Grahamstown to record the views of residents, which we publish on our “Your Say” page.
We print letters, emails and text messages sent in by local residents to ensure that this newspaper reflects the opinions and interests of our readership. We also have a number of other features, such as the entertainment page, with its Sudoku, TV and cinema guides that appear in every edition.
Page Two routinely carries weather forecasts from the South African Weather Service, and on Tuesdays we now have the week’s rainfall figures sent in by volunteer reporters from around town.
In this same edition we usually have an Applause page that showcases photographs of people who have done well in their particular field, or who are celebrating a special landmark in their lives. The Applause page celebrates with Grocott’s Mail readers.
On Fridays we publish a “What’s On” section, in which we invite residents to advertise not-for-profit events free of charge, so readers can find out what to do in their leisure time. The Friday edition also carries a page dedicated to residents who wish to share information relevant to their faith. We call this the “Interfaith” page.
