Rhodes University will host the country's top university soccer teams from 6 to 10 December for the University Sport South Africa (USSA) Football National Club Championships.

Rhodes University will host the country's top university soccer teams from 6 to 10 December for the University Sport South Africa (USSA) Football National Club Championships.

The tournament is regarded as the greatest event of the year in the student’s football calendar and for many aspiring football professionals is a stepping stone to greater heights as the event attracts many talent scouts from the SAFA 1st Division and Premier Soccer League.

USSA Football, through these tournaments and other activities, has produced many former and current PSL players and South African Football Association administrators. All teams taking part are expected to arrive in Grahamstown for registration on 5 December and the first team managers meeting will take place later that evening.

The opening ceremony, followed by the first match will take place on Rhodes Great Field on Monday 6 December at 8am. Other events planned for the week are a coach’s symposium on Tuesday 7 December at 7pm in the Old Mutual Pavilion Lounge (Rhodes Sports Administration building).

The USSA Football AGM takes place on Thursday 9 December at 8pm in the Rhodes Eden Grove Blue lecture theatre. The event ends on Friday 10 December with the USSA Football Final Dinner. The final dinner will see a number of individual awards for participating players and the national team selection will also be announced. This team will represent South Africa in the World Student Games to be held in Shenzhen, China, in August 2011.

Matches are scheduled to take place on Prospect Fields, King Field, Great Field (Rhodes University), and DSG Field just outside Great Field. The following institutions will be taking part:
