Grahamstown police confiscated dagga worth over R5 00 000 in Hlalani on Saturday. Police spokesperson Captain Mali Govender said four men and a woman were arrested after they were found in a house with bags full of dagga.

Govender said three police officers raided the house after receiving a tip off. "When they arrived at the house, they jumped over the fence and startled the group who were surrounded by the bags, some of them were filled with loose dagga, whilst others were already packaged and ready for sale."

The suspects are due to appear in court and face charges of dealing in dagga. Grahamstown Station Commander, Brigadier Morgan Govender said, "I commend the police officers for this great success as well as for their ongoing commitment and dedication.”
