Rhodes University has sent out a warning to motorists who park their vehicles illegally on the Rhodes University campus.

The notice informed staff and students that the Estates Division has acquired vehicle wheel clamps and in addition has arranged with local tow-away companies to remove illegally parked vehicles from campus.

In the letter, Les Reynolds, director of the Estate Division said: “Vehicles that are parked illegally over red or yellow lines or in any other 'no parking' areas on campus will be given a warning ticket for the first offence, thereafter vehicles will be clamped or towed away."

Drivers of the vehicles will then need to pay a traffic fine to the municipality or a release fee to the towing company before retrieving their vehicle.
