Police are still busy searching for Sithembiso Livingstone Nonzube, a 69-year-old mentally disturbed man who went missing from his Extension 9 home on Wednesday 18 August. Nomthandazo Mankayi, who has been living with him for over 20 years said, “We both went out of the yard at the same time, I was going to visit a friend and he said he was going to buy a cigarette.

That is the last time I saw him. “This was not the fi rst time of his disappearance, in another incident he went missing for three days but managed to make his way back home but because of his mental health he was vague in explaining where he was.”

Mankayi says Nonzube is bald and has a grey beard and moustache. He was wearing black jeans, a grey shirt, a blue overall top underneath a blazer and black shoes.

Warrant offi cer Thulani Zwane, who is responsible for this case said, “He was reported missing by his wife on Thursday 19 August a day after he disappeared.

“In our search most people who know him have not seen him the hospital staff where he usually treats his
condition said they last saw him last year. “We then went to Salem where his was born and his family said he was not there either.”

Zwane said out of the 24 people that have been reported missing at the Grahamstown police station since January, 23 have been found so Nonzube is the only person who has not been tracked down.

If anyone has seen Nonzube or knows where he may be, please contact the police station or call Warrant Officer Zwane on 082 3317 409.
