    The wonderful fear of God

One of the main reasons our lives become directionless and devoid of significance is because we have no fear of God.

When our transient whims and preferences replace the will and ways of the living God we are heading for emptiness.

In Isaiah 52:7 we read: “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” The good news to the people of God is that peace will be found in our lives.

The Hebrew word for peace here carries the deeper meaning of wholeness and fulfilment in other words, nothing missing, nothing broken.

This promise of fulfilment comes however in a context, namely the receiving of the reign of God. It  stands to reason that He who created the universe simply knows best about marriage, relationships, work, and
finances and well… everything found in the universe.

The good news is that He knows what He is doing and that He has our best interests at heart. The trouble is a shepherd can only lead you where you want to go.

The wonderful fear of God is the recognising that he has the chief authority in our lives.
