A specialis ed sports nutrition shop in New Street has just opened, much to the delight of local fitness fanatics.

Muscle Mania is run by Jade Bowles, a Graeme College first team rugby player, who first ran the business from home, but due to growing demand, decided to move to the new premises next to Mr Burger.

Just like any other registered business, he went through the right procedures to get his business up and
running.

The idea behind his shop was very simple, as there was no sports nutrition shop in the the  Grahamstown and Albany area, so he looked to take advantage of the niche in the market, especially in a town with such a large student population.

With the use of illegal, anabolic steroids rife in our local high schools, all his stock is clearly marked with anti-doping signs, showing that it is free of illegal performance-enhancing substances.

Besides stocking sports nutrition supplements, Bowles also stocks pure natural Drakensburg water. “I aim to keep the local people supplied at reasonable prices,” said Bowles, saying that he hopes to cater for sports people of all types and ages.

Dalu January, one of Bowles’ team mates, is happy with the opening of the nutrition shop. “It will be easier to access supplements and know which ones to use,” he said.
