The public is invited to attend the AGM of the group who call themselves the Friends of the Great Fish River Reserve, on Wednesday 4 August at 7pm at the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity.
The public is invited to attend the AGM of the group who call themselves the Friends of the Great Fish River Reserve, on Wednesday 4 August at 7pm at the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity.
This group aims to help to increase the awareness of the ecological importance of the reserve. There is a huge variety of fauna and flora to be viewed, including a recently photographed leopard.
A number of exciting projects are being undertaken by Rhodes University researchers and by Cape Nature Conservation. The tourism potential in the reserve, which would create jobs, is substantial.
At the AGM there will be prizes awarded to attendees and signed-up members. These will take the form of personally guided game drives with experienced ranger Brad Fike.
The guest speaker will report on his research into hippos which are occasionally sighted in the river. Look out for more information at the entrance to Pick n Pay on Friday afternoon 30 July to whet your appetite.
