Commenting on the role that TV can play in our lives, John Piper writes: “Your mind was made to know and love God.Its facility for this great calling is ruined by excessive TV. The content is so trivial and so shallow that the capacity of the mind to think worthy thoughts withers, and the capacity of the heart to feel deep emotions shrivels.”

Many South Africans feel like a drug has been taken away from them since the World Cup ended. Local Festinos may feel like they’ve got the blues after Fest has come and gone.

For others, their lives feel like they’ve been put on hold until the next Twilight movie is released. But none of these will ever satisfy our deepest affections, or bring us closer to Christ, in Whom we live, move and have our being.

However, if we set our desire on getting to know Him who is the Word, we will come into a far more meaningful, satisfying life and grow to become more like Jesus every day. Be blessed.
