Mdantsane-born Nathi Njamela, aka Nathi B, was out and about at the Festival promoting his music. Nathi B made his second appearance on the Grahamstown scene after he featured in Ancient Mornachy’s Freedom
Day celebrations event in April earlier this year.

With his latest album titled Ilanga (The Sun), the reggae artist is sure to brighten your day with tracks like Ihashe Lam which has maintained a strong position in the nationwide Xhosa radio station Umhlobo Wenene FM.

Listeners have been indulging in the soothing sounds of reggae, expresses mostly in his mother tongue: Xhosa. “The message comes in my own tongue and it  promotes our identity to other nations.

The concept in the whole movement is to restore our African pride,” he says. He feels that if ever the music is expressed in any other language it will lose its original value.

“We feel the music as it is the rhythm that combines the people.” Through his tireless efforts of exposing his talent, Nathi B was declared by YFM as the Best Local Radio Artist in 2010 earlier this year.

He also went on to record a music video of his top hit Ilanga, which is played frequently on DSTV’s Soweto TV. To order the CD Ilanga follow Nathi  Njamela on Facebook or call 072 369 8325.
