Grahamstown police are investigating a murder case after the body of a man was discovered under a bridge last Wednesday in Watermeyer Street in the Kingswood College area.

This body was found by a member of the community who was passing by in the early hours of the morning who immediately informed the police.

According to the Grahamstown Police spokesperson, Captain Mali Govender, the body was found covered with blood making it difficult for the police to identify the injuries sustained by the deceased.

“A post mortem will be conducted to confirm the cause of death and to identify the weapon used in the incident,” said Govender.

At  5.30am on Wednesday, a resident living in the area was awake and at home when she heard screams and someone who sounded like they were running away at a fast pace.

The body has not been identified yet and the police are appealing to the community to report any information that they might have regarding the case as soon as possible.
