Former Rhodes student, Lucy Hind, returned to Grahamstown for the National Arts Festival with her show Extra-ordinary.
Hind graduated from Rhodes University in 2003 with a Masters degree in Physical Theatre and Choreography and is now based in Leeds as a performer and a movement director.

Hind graduated from Rhodes University in 2003 with a Masters degree in Physical Theatre and Choreography and is now based in Leeds as a performer and a movement director.
The show, a duet with the highly acclaimed stage and screen actor and dancer David Toole, was lavishly praised in London and other parts on England.
The two portray themselves in the play, so it is a sort of a self discovery for Hind as she is rather naïve and in awe of her idol, fi nding it very diffi cult to restrain herself in his presence. Lucy describes the play as being made up of part acting, part clowning and part dancing.
The play has very funny moments but also moments she describes as being “very sobering”. Hind says she absolutely loves South Africa and has had an amazing time being back in Grahamstown.
She said that she was proud to show her visitors from London this lovely little town and that everybody they came across was warm and friendly.
Hind and her team were only in Grahamstown for a week and have taken the show to the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town.
She says that while they had a lovely time in Grahamstown they were rather disappointed by the turnout of people and that they were expecting more people to be around for the Festival.
However, she was very happy that their last shows were sold out and that she was once again reminded and impressed by the quality of the work produced at the Arts Festival.
