A hockey coaching clinic, run by members of the provincial team and Rhodes University Hockey Club’s first team, will be held in Grahamstown over the weekend.
A hockey coaching clinic, run by members of the provincial team and Rhodes University Hockey Club’s first team, will be held in Grahamstown over the weekend.
It is open to children of all skill levels and ages. The coaching clinic will run from tomorrow (Saturday) and continue on Sunday, with a total of four sessions two sessions per age group. It will take place at the St Andrew’s college / DSG Astro.
Greg Wilmot, organiser of the coaching clinic, said the focus of the clinic is on “helping young players (including novices) develop skills”.
Included in the coaching clinic will be a session with a qualified sport psychologist, while all participants will also receive printed training and reference material.
“Boys and girls of all skill levels and abilities are welcome to attend,” said Wilmot. Each session costs R60.
• Session 1 takes place on Saturday 3 July from 10am to 12 noon for Grades 1 to 7.
• Session 2 takes place on Saturday from 2pm to 4pm for Grades 8 to 12.
• Session 3 is also for Grades 1 to 7 and takes place on Sunday 4 July at 10am.
• The final session, session 4, also takes place on Sunday, from 2pm to 4pm for Grades 8 to 12. “Boys and girls are encouraged to attend both sessions as each session will be different and focus on different skills,” added Wilmot.
