Radio Grahamstown has moved camp and is now broadcasting from the back of the Grocott’s Mail building. The move began last week and the first show was broadcast from the new premises on Saturday afternoon.

Radio Grahamstown station manager Phumlani Wayi said the move was needed due to various challenges encountered by the station at their old premises in Froude Street.

He said: “The old Radio Grahamstown premises did not have running water and there were no taxis available for DJs who work at night.”

He further says that the move was made to ensure employee safety and create a healthier working environment as the new premises are in a much better condition than Froude Street.

The new neighbours of Grocott’s Mail hope to stay in the neighbourhood for a much longer period because they have moved three times since they formed in 1991 and do not want to be viewed as the new kids on the block again.
