A number of Pepper Grove Mall tenants have also contributed lucky draw prizes towards the event, which will be handed out with soccer balls and vuvuzelas.

There will also be  boerewors rolls on sale. Beer said he decided to create a bit of excitement and get the community involved in the World Cup celebrations and to “get into the spirit of things”.

All of the 32 countries taking part in the World Cup’s flags have been put up throughout the mall. The Rhodes staff celebration will start from 12 noon on the Drostdy Lawns where all the staff can enjoy a shorter work day.

When matches are at 4pm the Rhodes working day will run from 7.30am to 3pm, allowing staff time to travel to where they want to watch matches.
