Victoria Primary held an inter-house soccer tournament on Tuesday morning for their foundation phase learners, from Grades 1 to 3 despite the looming clouds and intermittent rain that tried to dampen their
spirits.

spirits.
The tournament was held as part of the school’s term theme which is simply Soccer. During physical development classes in the preceding weeks the children were taught some basic soccer skills and the rules of the game.
On Tuesday they were then split into teams where each team had an equal number of older and younger players, so that everyone could play together.
Teams from different houses played against each other gaining three points for a win one point for a draw and 0 points if you lost!
Disa house emerged as the victors by a large margin with Arum coming in second, Aloe third and Fern last. A few parents were also involved with one mom helping with the scoring and another as the official fourth referee.
One dad was spotted helping out one girl at the goalpost while the other parents were cheering on the sidelines.
Someone had thoughtfully brought along some vuvuzelas although actually blowing them was too challenging for some.
Despite the rain and windy weather the girls (and supporters) were very enthusiastic and the tournament was a great way to end off the term just before the winter holidays (and the World Cup) begins.
