away in a car accident last Sunday.

away in a car accident last Sunday.
 

He was on his way back from Paterson with a friend when the accident occured. He was 69 years old. Metu was born on 30 November 1941 in Sidbury in the Eastern Cape.

He attended Hendrik Kanise School in Alexandria until standard six and as the eldest of six children, had to find work to assist his parents financially.

Metu worked at the CPU for close to 30 years and retired in 2002. Metu is survived by his mother, Nolungekude Sam, siblings, ten grandchildren and and two great-grandchildren.

He also leaves behind his wife and three remaining children. "For me he was a role model", says Sibusiso Metu, his youngest son. "He showed me how to be a good father and he taught me loyalty.
