THE 2010 KentonXtreme Eco Challenge took place recently from the Homewoods Restaurant in Kenton-on-
Sea, where various sporting events took place.

The events included the Pam Golding Surf Ski Race, Kenton Eco Estate Triathlon (individual and team), Hi-Tec Security Coastal 20km/50km Mountain Bike Race, Homewoods 10km Beach Run and a Rotary 5km fun run.

The events included the Pam Golding Surf Ski Race, Kenton Eco Estate Triathlon (individual and team), Hi-Tec Security Coastal 20km/50km Mountain Bike Race, Homewoods 10km Beach Run and a Rotary 5km fun run.

David Wright of Grahamstown won the Hi-Tec Security Coastal 50km MTB race in unseasonably hot conditions. Wright won in 2 hours 36 minutes 36 seconds from Graham Taylor and Tony Thorburn whilst Melanie Darlow won the women’s race in 3:25:08 from Loryn Thorburn and Sabrina Boudler.

Deon Boshoff of Grahamstown finished eighth in three minutes. The 20km mountain bike race was won by 17-year-old Graeme College pupil Jason Meaton in 1:16:19 with Brad Boonzaaier second and Cape Townian Robin Wilmot in third place.

Candy Boonzaaier won the women’s race from Michelle van Niekerk and Sheryl Hanger. Another local, Trevor Amos finished seventh in 1:44:03. In the Kenton Eco Estate Xtreme Triathlon, Neil Currie finished seventh in 1:40:49.
