Riding Silver Streak was Ruth Plasket, who cleaned up the pony rider showing  classes to emerge as the overall pony-rider showing champion of the show.

Alison Knight, riding Retina R, won the reserve showing and working pony-rider championships. Andrea Barnard riding Assegai’s Lord Felix won the junior working championship and Sarah Cuppleditch riding Assegai’s Peregrine Falcon was named the reserve.

Misty Weyer riding Assegai’s Major Major won the adult working championship and Pat Pohl on Pohlands Velcro won both adult novice dressage tests as well as at medium level on Pohlands Why Hello.

“GRC members excelled in equitation, dressage, showing and show jumping,” said show convenor Christine Craddock.

Visiting Northern Cape and Free State judge Georgia Diedericks was “extremely impressed” with the standard of the showing and show jumping and said the quality of horses and horsemanship compared well nationally.

Craddock thanked all the businesses and individuals that sponsored the show and the auction held on Saturday to raise much-needed funds for the GRC coffers.

“A special word of thanks must go to Brian Bonsor of Phoenix Roller Mills who has sponsored us so generously for so long,” she said.
